VISIT JEJU

Located along Jeju’s famous cherry blossom area at Jeonnong Road, you would be excused in mistaking this cafe for one somewhere in the heart of the charming Sinsa-dong neighborhood of Gangnam, Seoul.  Habilis’ interior is simple and modern. As you enter, you’re greeted with a delicious coffee aroma, bolstered by all the awards and other accolades the barista has accumulated over the years. The signature drink of Habilis is a flat white with roasted peanut powder and caramel for a “Snickers” chocolate bar flavor.

What does coffee taste like when enjoyed in a citrus orchard? The New Jersey coffee house, located in a renovated citrus farm warehouse in a quiet part of the Jeju rural countryside, was started by a married couple and their barista brother. The cafe itself is just a grey box, but its large windows look out on the vibrant display of natural colors of a working orchard. You can sit there, mesmerized by the novelty of this rural scene for as long as you want, far from your daily routine. Enjoy such menu items as a sweet, creamy New Jersey Vienna, or a “Flat Greenlight” which is espresso, milk and green tea blended together. For the health conscious visitor, a vitamin C-rich Calamansi Ade is just what the doctor ordered. 

This coffee house is in a renovated home along a Seogwipo street, and its blue exterior is as impressive as it is unmistakeable. Its owner has a thing for Hong Kong, so its interior design reflects this with an unusual array of decorations and its coffee menu. The owner/barista roasts the coffee and prefers to use a moka pot over an espresso machine. The signature menu item is Hong Kong milk tea and a Hong Kong tart.

It might not be close to downtown or the airport, but this coffee shop is well known to true coffee aficionados. Decorated in gray and white tones and with plenty of wooden furniture and potted plants, it’s got a homey, cozy feel. The signature menu items are a microfoam flat white espresso, ice einspänner coffee, and a fresh tiramisu.
