A festival celebrating the beautiful hydrangea flowers at Honinji Pond

Honinji Pond is said to be the place where the mythical ancestors of Jeju, the three demigods of Samsinin, married the three princesses of Byeongnang state. 

Located in Onpyeong-ri, Seongsan-eup, Honinji Pond is a public tourist site that was designated a Provincial Monument of Jeju in 1971. This year marks the third anniversary of the Honinji Festival. 

This year’s festival will be held from May 24 to June 23, 2024. 

Held in May and June, when hydrangeas are in bloom, the Honinji Festival features a variety of performances put on by Onpyeong-ri residents’ hobby groups, as well as reenactments of traditional and folk wedding ceremonies, courtesy of the Onpyeong-ri Cultural Heritage Preservation Society. 

Summer is just around the corner, a perfect time to experience the traditional culture of the area, enjoy the performances of Onpyeong-ri residents, and admire the beauty of hydrangea flowers.

Honinji Pond is beautiful in all the four seasons, but it is especially beautiful in the summer when the hydrangeas bloom.

※ Open call for couples who want to participate in the traditional and folk wedding ceremonies (first-come, first-served basis; 2 couples for folk wedding, 4 couples for traditional wedding)
