Tourist destinations and clothing stores that have been visited by celebrities or influencers often tend to become popular overnight.
One such place that was thrust into the limelight was Yoo as Yoo, a secondhand clothing store visited by singer Code Kunst on the popular TV show I Live Alone.
Yoo as Yoo is a secondhand clothing store that describes itself as a vintage shop, and its collection truly reflects its unique aesthetics in the owner’s curation, the owner’s alterations, and the stories that come with each item.
A surprisingly large part of its loyal clientele are fashionistas who come to Hallim just for this shop.
The store establishes its remarkable presence with its appearance:
The sign consists of two Sino-Korean characters in red, “有有”, which Koreans read as “Yoo Yoo”.
The whole place feels like a Korean-Chinese restaurant, but instead of bowls of noodles, the interior is lined with neat rows of fashion items and clothes.
The collection offers a wide range of used clothing with a special focus on American clothing.
Even though the items are secondhand, they are very well maintained and offer such a variety that browsing is not boring, but fun.
In fact, instead of the usual pile, each item is carefully organized and arranged, making it easy to browse and even easier to pick out what you like.
The same goes for the accessories collection, from boots to belts.
It is really easy to lose track of time here, browsing interesting items with equally and undoubtedly interesting stories.
The owner is quite eager to explain, so if you have a hard time deciding, you can ask for the owner’s expert opinion.
Prices are as varied as the collection itself.
Some are priced under KRW 100,000, while rarer items command prices close to KRW 1 million.
You can also find a collection of old magazines to browse through.
Since this is a clothing store, you can of course try on many of the items.
Go through the cupboard-like door to find the dressing room. The dressing room is surprisingly spacious and nicely decorated, so you can take pictures like in a photo studio.
It is a good idea to visit the website of Yoo as Yoo.
This is especially true if you don’t have a lot of time to spare, or if you want to check out the collection but can’t get there in person.
Most of the items are photographed from different angles and are quite easy to browse through.
Another interesting feature of Yoo as Yoo is its children’s collection.
In particular, a notice in the shop says that the children’s collection focuses on items made before the 70s.
This means, of course, that it is not easy to guarantee that all items are in the best condition, and there is a request for the visitors to check the measurements carefully before buying.
Please note that as a secondhand store, Yoo as Yoo products cannot be exchanged or refunded because it is difficult to determine whether the item was damaged before or after the purchase.
So it is recommended that you think carefully about your purchase before deciding.
