The legend of Chagwido Island
Legend has it that there once was a man named Ho Jongdan from Fuzhou in the Song Dynasty, or ancient China. Hearing that a great figure would be born on Jejudo and become a threat to Song, Ho went to Jejudo and blocked the flow of the land and water. On his ship returning to Song, while in the coastal seas of Gosan, a falcon appeared. As soon as the bird landed on the ship, a gust of wind blew, capsizing the ship. As the falcon, known as the guardian spirit of Hallasan Mountain, prevented Ho’s return to China, the small island got its name, Chagwido, which literally means an island where one’s return is stopped in Chinese characters. The sunken ship of Ho Jongdan had a lot of treasure on it and is now guarded by Maebawi Rock, or Falcon Rock, on Chagwido Island.

The Pirate’s Marine Mooring floating in the sea is an intermediate mooring for boarding the submarine. It is decorated with various treasures and models as a pirate lair, and is an exciting photo zone. Even the crew members are dressed as pirates, which enhances the excitement.

Chagwido Island, which is designated as Natural Monument No. 422, presents a wonderful underwater view with variety of fish and beautiful, colorful coral beds. Korea’s only underwater cave and a spectacular performance by divers are sights you should not miss. Special effects are applied inside the Pirate Submarine to create an atmosphere like an aquarium, and its exterior is decorated with a pirate theme.

<Reservation/Boarding Guide>
1. Make reservations online
Enter your information and the desired date and time of your reservation.
Event discounts cannot be combined with any other promotions including benefits for a person of national merit.  
2. Contact from office to confirm your reservation
The office calls you within 24 hours after checking your reservation.
The office explains the tour packages and manages the boarding schedule, and then confirms your reservation.
3. Deposit payment after reservation confirmation
After the call with the office, deposit the fee. If payment hasn’t been confirmed by 14:00 2 days prior to your boarding day, your reservation is automatically canceled.  
4. Board the submarine
Confirm your ID and get your ticket at the submarine ticket booth at least 20 minutes before boarding time.
