This volcanic cone has a mountain top crater lake to the south of the Seongpanak hiking path, which is located on the eastern slope of Hallasan Mountain’s Baengnokdam Lake, which is on high land. The volcanic cone is located on the boundary between Namwon-eup, Seogwipo-si and Jocheon-eup, Jeju-si. Its mountain top crater lake has the highest altitude among the parasitic cones of Jejudo Island. The cdish-shaped rater lake is not deep but large with a circumference of approximately 250m, and the length of its crater rim reaches as long as 1.2km. The vicinity of the crater lake has long been considered one of the most propitious sites according to the theory of divination based on topography. - Origin and Etymology of Volcanic Cone’s Name: This volcanic cone is also called Sara Oreum Volcanic Cone. A volcanic cone with the same name (often referred to as Sarabong Volcanic Cone) can be found in Jeju-si. It is written as Saraak, Saraak, or Saraak in Chinese characters, but what Sara originally means remains unknown.
