Daheeyeon is located on 200,000m2 of land in a tea making area of Seonheul village, producing some of the best green tea in Korea. The green tea fields offer a remarkable, panoramic view that’s breathtaking in itself, but once you head down to the cafe — which is built inside a natural volcanic cave space — the experience becomes truly unique. The cave system is lit for guests to stroll through, and there are small bridges and water features along the path. The cafe itself is quite large (for being mostly underground) and they serve not just the locally produced green tea and tea products, but also coffee, ice cream and green tea infused bread, among other items. Outside you can take a ride on a Zipline experience across part of Daheeyeon’s fields. As a kind of composite theme park centering around green tea, how about trying a bit of everything there?
This green tea field you can find by doing a web search for 'Green Tea Tourist Farm Samdawon Entrance'. Although it isn’t an especially large farm, there are cute sculptures all over the place, giving it some unusual scenery. The site is where historically farmers and city people met. Now it is strictly a farm, though it used to have a guest house with a quiet, tranquil atmosphere that visitors could enjoy. But that doesn’t mean you can’t visit and get some photos — even wedding photos — taken here.

Take a slow walk down the sloping, narrow road. When you reach the end, the road opens up on the lush greenery of diminutive fields of green tea. The area is like something out of a fairy tale, and the farming couple, who are now in their eighties, are well known here. They farmed citrus for 40 years before making the switch to tea 10 year ago — taking up a new “green challenge”. To make room for the tea plants, this elderly couple painstakingly moved all the volcanic rocks and stacked them into stone fences along the perimeter of the fields. These traditionally constructed stone fences help to naturally maintain the temperature of the tea fields, as do the carefully planted trees which line the access road to the farm and cast a comfortable shade down on the plants. How about enjoying the locally produced green tea of Seogwi-dong in this wonderland of greenery, rolling hills, and maybe even hear a story or two from this venerable farming couple.
Planted 10 years ago, you can now enjoy the delicious green tea of Seogwipo with a lovely view as well. This cafe offers not just tea, but local folk art, speciality products, and even a go-kart experience for the kids. On the second floor of the cafe a selection of beverages and pastries are available with green tea infusions. The area itself is a cool and relaxing place near Hallasan Mountain, so if you’re looking to beat the summer heat, this rural oasis might be just what you’re looking for. There’s no admission fee and plenty to see and do, so you can make a day of it, tea and all!
