Savor a fresh experienceJeju mandarin orchard cafes

There are many kinds of cafes operating all around the island. In the city center or out in the countryside you can find rooftop cafes, repurposed agricultural warehouse cafes, and cafes with a view of the forest and the sea. But around this time of year, cafes in ripening mandarin orchards are amazing! So here are a number of cafes in Jeju where you can drink fresh citrus beverages, eat mandarin orange desserts, and even try your hand at mandarin picking!

The feeling of GreeceA huge citrus space <Dendri>

The cafe is on the way to the Kim Young-gap Gallery near Seongsan, Seogwipo. There are many farmers cultivating mandarins in the region, but this is a special mandarin orchard with a white Greek-style building set on about 6,600 m2 of land. This attractive space feels like an island floating in the middle of a mandarin orchard. It’s named after a Greek town the owner once visited. The building was designed by father and son together, and the long, wide windows are well arranged, giving the space a sense of relaxation. It feels properly Greek.

With a unique view of Hallasan Mountain and the seaA mandarin orchard cafe near the airport <Dogot>
두갓

Opened in the fall of 2019, Dogot is a cafe which refers to the Jeju word  for “couple”. Like the name of the cafe, it is run by a couple; the wife makes desserts and the husband, who is originally from Jeju, is in charge of the overall operation.

The main attraction of Dogot is that you can simultaneously enjoy the view of Hallasan Mountain to the left and the sea to the right. Also, since it is located not far from downtown Jeju, it is a convenient spot to spend time before going to the airport. Their mandarin oranges are farmed here and they use the produce to make fresh homemade juice without syrup or added sugar. Their signature menu item is mandarin ade.

A trip you’ll cherishAn orchard cafe in Jangjeon Village <First Trip With You>
너와의첫여행

This mandarin orchard cafe is located in Jangjeon Village, in the middle of Aewol-eup west of Jeju City. Open since March 2020, it is run by a wife who learned baking and a husband who is a designer.

This building is a renovated Jeju stone warehouse which they left many traces of to accentuate the original feel of the place. The large camellia tree that can be seen out of the window is also beautiful. Each table, indoors and outdoors, has a cozy feel and the assorted knicknacks fill the space with the owner’s personality

여섯번의보름

The total of six fortnights is 90 days. The story is that after three months of living in Jeju, this owner couple, who decided to settle here, chose a house in Seogwipo and opened a mandarin orchard cafe in March 2019, naming it Six Full Moons.

They studied to be baristas and took a baking course after the husband gave up a job in IT and the wife quit her daycare teacher job. Her experience in daycare informs their choice to have a small room at the cafe where small kids can play or lie down for a rest. The mandarin orchard is managed by the owner’s grandfather, and they offer a simple mandarin picking experience for their customers. Signature dishes on offer are a cream latte topped with moon-shaped cinnamon powder and apple toast.
